It's the end of the week and in ten years of Lakeside, we really have had the best week EVER! The best weather, the best leaders but most importantly, the best young people we have ever had the pleasure of bringing. The hardest part has been selecting just one person from each group to be Star of the Week because every single person has been a star in their own unique way. However, here they are below:

Another perfect day with weather so good, we simply cannot remember a year like it! So many wonderful activities; so many people conquering their fears and so many laughs (some ending in fits of joyous tears!) Here are today's proud stars who have truly shone. Bedtime now and all are tucked up safe and sound, ready for the fresh opportunities tomorrow is sure to bring...

With Mrs G's taking an early lead, Mrs McIntyre's group start to veer off course! Later on, it becomes clear that Mrs G's group are powering ahead with Mr D's & Mrs Mc's following up behind! A great race by all & super teamwork too!!

Raft building is great on dry land. Two groups built them this afternoon - one floated and one collapsed, taking all the sailors with it! Boy is that lake cold!

Mrs Fraser's group listen to their group leader who organises them for the Zip Line. They ALL went down it without a moments hesitation! Some said they were scared of heights, but watching them, you certainly wouldn't believe it! Well done to them all!

After a tremendous first day, the children have written their diaries reflecting on everything they've done so far. After a wonderful tea, we've put our boots on and scaled great heights to reach a superb view point over Lake Windermere. Both groups enjoyed the walk, eating wood sorrel leaves which Lukas said tasted like "apple & sour, but I liked it!"

For those who are interested, we are heading to YMCA Lakeside, which is on the west shore of Lake Windermere, the largest lake in the lake District. What it says about YMCA on their website:

"The YMCA National Centre Lakeside is one of the largest outdoor activity and residential centres in Europe, providing a wide range of outdoor activities and team building activities for all age groups. Set in an area of outstanding beauty in the heart of the English Lake District, we have over 400 acres of private woodland estate bordered by a mile and a half of Windermere shoreline and we are considered one of the finest located outdoor activity centres in the world."
